1) HOSTILITY! (v12-14, 19-24)

  • A band of soldiers, a captain, a religious police force, Annas, Caiaphas – Jesus, bound and beaten

2) HUMANITY! (v15-18, 25-27)

  • Peter following and failing

3) HYPOCRISY! (v28)

  • White gloves covering dirty hands

4) HUMILITY! (Luke 22:61-62)

  • “The Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered….. and he went out and wept bitterly.”

Applications:

1. The human heart is hostile to God.
2. The redeemed heart is prone to wander.
3. Religious hypocrisy is the worst sin of all.
4. A broken and contrite heart He will not despise.
