MIND THE GAP 2. LEADERS AND FOLLOWERS (Titus 1:5-9)

Leadership is designed and delegated by God

1. Leaders must not be:

  • Arrogant – Quick-tempered – Drunkards – Violent – Greedy

2. Leaders must be:

  • Hospitable – Lovers of Good – Self-controlled – Upright – Holy – Disciplined

3. Leaders are tasked with:

  • Holding Firm and Holding Forth the Trustworthy Word

4. How can we avoid or close the gap?

  • Behave like the family we’ve been called to be
  • Grow in and Live out godly characteristics
  • Banish man-made hierarchies
  • Pray with and Honour one another (Hebs.13)
  • Focus on Jesus – the Author of Salvation and Perfector of Faith

5. Leader-Follower Dynamic

  • Good leaders should be: Trustworthy, Honest, Committed, Innovative, Competent, Courageous, Take initiatives
  • Good followers should be: Trustworthy, Honest, Committed, Innovative, Competent, Courageous, Take Initiatives
  • Great followers produce great leaders
  • Great leaders produce great followers

6. CHALLENGES:

  • If you are a church leader which areas of your life need to change?
  • If you are a church follower are there ways you are living that make it difficult for those in leadership?
