THE ARMOUR OF GOD 1. THE FIGHT (Ephesians 6:10-13)

Context:
Acts 19:18-20; 23-34; Eph 1:1-6:9
The Ephesians knew they were in a fight

1. STRENGTH (Eph 6:10)

a. Personal v10: His strength (“in the Lord”; “His might”). Described in 1:19,20
b. Purposeful v11: To enable us to stand. Note the command! “Put on…”

2. STRUGGLE (Eph 6:12)

a. Picture: “wrestle”: personal, intimate, protracted.
b. Powers: an impressive array. But: “this present darkness” – limited (cf 1 Pet 2:9) He is above them 1:21

3. STAND (Eph 6:13)

a. In the crisis: the evil day – and what did they do?
b. At the climax: last ‘Christian’ standing
Standing in His strength, relying on Him and His resources is what His people have ever done.
Ex 14:13 “….stand firm and see the salvation of the Lord..”
2 Chron 20:17 “… stand firm, hold your position and see the salvation of the Lord…”
